I am a sort of new knife maker, I have made some in the past but nothing serious. Now I want to get into it and bought a Badder III. I have experience working with metals but so many things about knife making that I don't know. Wondering is there any knife maker in the area that will be willing to show me the ropes.

Armycub, Please fill out your profile. There are many great makers in the Tacoma area and they mey respond if you tell us a little about yourself.

Well I went into my profile and other than writing Tacoma as my location, the other question is biography, which not sure what to write that would make a diferenc. Don't get me wrong, not barking at you but other than my professional education there is not much to write other than self taught by reading books. Any suggestions?

That is exactly what people are looking for. It is difficult to answer some questions with no information on the experience levels of the person asking. If you keep surfing the forums and participate you will inevitably get and invite to someones shop. If you are interested in taking formal lessons there are a few that do this on a regular basis. There used to be a hammer-inn up in your neck of the woods. I know that Dave Lisch has sponsored some sort of get together before., You might want to contact him and see what is going on. If you are willing to travel for lessons that will open up a huge variety of makers. I would be happy to answer any questions. You can PM me or email me from my profile.

Take Care

There's also the OKCA show this coming weekend down in Eugene; I know it's not in the Tacoma vicinity but if you're serious about getting into knifemaking it would be a great opportunity to be around a lot of excellent makers at once. I know its not the same as getting shop time but it might get your foot in the door with a personal introduction...
