I have a s.s., carbon fiber folder knife with an initials stamped on it. I am trying to identify the maker,,,,,,,,is there a list of symbols, or a book which identifies the maker by their initials or markings???
The first letter is a "W" or an "M" depending on which way u hold the knife,,,,and the second letter is a funny looking "loop" which could be a "P"...
Any help would be appreciated ,,,,,one down, 200 more to go....

It sounds like Warren Thomas. Some pix of his knives are here; let us know if we have solved the mystery.

:):):):)::):):):):) OH MY GOD,,,,YES,YES.YES ,,,,THANK U, THANK U, THANK U,,,,,You have no idea how many months of research you saved me....The only clues I had was it was purchased about 15 years ago, Knife Show in NYC,,I was going thru old mags to find out which hotels knife shows were in,,,,,and then I was going to try an get a listing of the knife vendors , etc., etc., etc.,

I'm givin ya one mighty big bear hug right about now,,,,,you have solved the mystery,,,,,,I gotta show you my appreciation somehow,,,,,what's on your wish list???

By the way,,,,the knife I have is black carbon fiber folder, oal 8 1/2, blade is the same material on one side, and silver on the other :) haven't found it's pic yet,,,,but I'm sure I will....just wanted to say "Thank You"
first,,,,,,

Nope, I just spend way too much time looking at knives so I recognized your description of his mark.

I agree with you, Mike. I think initials would be fine if encorporated with something else though, like a symbol of some kind. I think anvilfire or someplace has an international registry where a smith can register his mark (free).

Well, I have one here for the experts. I came across a really "sharp" (pun intended) damascus fixed-blade with a maker's mark that I have yet to identify. It is an "upside down" horseshoe with a couple of initials on the inside. It looks like a stylized AB. Any help / ideas / guesses would be greatly appreciated.

pro tip- when you join a forum, the last thing you should do is resurrect an almost 20 year old thread!
C'mon, man!

My makers mark has my initials and a star, that means I'm located in the milky way LMAO
