Bagira looks like she's making out just fine on your sofa Igor!!
Nice Picture.

Those are nice dog photos, garryale. From what I've heard, Laikas are very intelligent for dogs.

Here is a photo of my wolf-dog who died last year. It's now spring time and he would love to be outdoors this time of year. I'm looking for a puppy, but this dog Alex, (pictured) will be a hard act to follow. He was very smart.

I'd like to get a Husky, or a German German Shepherd (as opposed to an American German Shepherd) or maybe even a Laika if I could get ahold of one. Laikas are not usually found in America. But having an intelligent dog is very rewarding.

A true GSD(such as Czech border patrol dogs) are smaller than you may be used to seeing. Just keep in mind that a large GSD is not going to have the most favorable genetics.

Also, NEVER obtain one based on title abbreviations; such as: AD, OB, TR, FH, SchH, IPO, WH, etc. Train your dog your way. Commands that will never be employed are not worth the dog knowing. At the very least, accept nothing but OFA 0/0 hips and elbows when it comes to GSDs.

Thanks for the tips. Yes, I was thinking of the Czech border dogs. Laikas are generally medium sized dogs, too. My wolf-dog was medium sized and he was as powerful during his young adulthood as I would care to have.

These are a female adolescent timber wolf (R) and an adolescent female hybrid wolf-malemute (L) owned by a person who lives in town. I pass him by on the beach every so often, walking the pair. They used to play with my dog. You need strong arms to control a pair like that on-leash. It is fun to watch the two play together on the beach when they are off-leash. There are no regulations for owning a hybrid in my state, though ordinances vary from city to city. You need a license, however, to own a wolf.

Here is an arctic wolf:

but as an artist i can say this is an instance where the artist was way outta their comfort/skill level, eyes can be difficult, wildlife in general can be a pain, i've only scrimmed a few wildlife pieces and while they turned out nice they were a pain:) i enjoyed them but not what i'm usually doing.
Mechanics and technique can only take ya so far, if your drafting and observation skills arent up to snuff it's gonna show. Pull references until you see that animal in your sleep, then draw, draw, draw and draw some more.
shame as it could be a real nice piece if executed correctly.
cheers
