Any knife makers in the Wilmington NC area or there about willing to give a weekend class in knife making? Would be happy to pay.

As someone who watches a fair bit of YouTube I will add to that suggestion with the warning/advice to watch many different people and/or try to make sure you watch people who are well established and respected in the trade.

Yes I have watched hours of YouTube lol. The other day I was watching Travis using a soapstone stick to grind bevels. That’s is the first time I have seen that demonstrate. But for me hands on training is always better. Thanks for the reply’s

It's not near NC, but John K. of the forums and JK Knives fame, puts on a weekend long knife making class in North/Central Illinois. I have gone two years in a row, and learned a ton, had a blast, and ended up with a couple of nice knives I've made myself. If travel is an option for you, I highly recommend his class. You can check out his forum for details and photos of previous classes. I will probably attend again this August or September.

If you want to forge knives, I would start with the local ABANA meetings. There is nothing special about forging a knife, the techniques you can learn for making a hook, leaf, punch, or hammer all help with knives.

North Carolina Custom Knifemakers Guild gets together there every quarter. You would be welcomed
