How to make a knife, from the slab of steel to the finished product.

I am considering knifemaking my hobby for the future. I think it will be great doing something that never will be perfect.

That is for sure a good place to get information.
Over at the other place (KFC) there is a newbies forum, moderated by jerry hossum, that has some really good information in it.
Especially one tutorial ,by the member Jonesy (IIRC), that is probably the best, easiest to understad, and easiest to do with limited tools, tutorial on making a knife from A to Z, I have seen. But I havent seent hat many either. :P

Knifemaking is more addictive than crack, and more exspensive. Turn back now before its to late. It just started as a hobby for me, and now I have a full time 30 knife a month habit

Seriously though, grab a file and dive in. Its the hardest work you will ever love. Even if you only ever make one. It will give you an understanding of what to look for in a quality knife, and a respect for the full time maker.
