Knife match... the game

I was browsing through the pics on one of these threads. I saw a GEC pattern that I had with the same handle material. It was my knife's brother. I thought it would be kind of fun to see if we could find other matches out there. This could be fun or a bust... I don't know. So lets give it a try.

General rules.
-pattern and handle material must match
-if you have match, post a pic and you win!(first post to match wins). What do you win? you win the right to post the next pic to match.

Lets see how this goes. I will start. If the owner posts a picture of his matching knife, he should post a picture of another knife for members to match. Lets be realistic and have fun

Here we go. Its an easy one. If you have a Buck 110 post a pic, then post a pic of another blade to match.

I started off with a less common knife, but lets see if we can get this going

Just so I'm understanding correctly: what do you mean by "handle material?"

Specific to the above example, are you looking for:

a(nother) Wallstreet #99 in Autumn Bone

a Wallstreet in smooth bone

and/or

a Wallstreet in bone, jigged or smooth...?

Thanks!

Ideally it would be exactly the same.
Wallstreet #99 in Smooth Autumn Bone
I started with this one because I saw it posted recently. Maybe I should have started with something more common. We will see how it goes.

I am unable to play then. :(

I thought you were looking for either another wall street with a different cover, or a different pattern with the same cover; which would have the potential for continuity and perpetuity :D

Either way, I like the idea

That is a great idea, we may have to switch it to that game if this does not take off

Isn't this sorta being done in the "NOTABLE PAIRS: Only Traditionals" thread?

I really like the idea, although I think we should open a little the rules, if not only a handful of friends with huge collections can play.
and you really didn't put the bar low in your first haha. Gorgeus knife by the way

EDITED: nothing to see here.

Could be interesting but it might be better to name it 'Identical Twins?' Could get stuck for while but that makes it a challenge! The Notable Pair thread is simply about 2 knives that you think have similarities or just go well together.

Edited so as not to cause confusion.

Seemed straight forward to me... This game seems more fun if we follow the op original rules. If you pick just one attribute to match then there's really not much fun in that. For example, there's thousands of knives with smooth autumn bone.

Nothing to see here either. Move along.

Perhaps you are right, I was not trying to hijack, or change the rules. I was just suggesting a way for people to post up more than just Smooth Autumn bone Wall streets. Should just call the thread "The smooth autumn wall street thread" Like you said, there's thousands of them.......thing is.....they are all alike. :D

Ill start my own thread.

Tom, I think you missed one important rule in onojoe's original description of the rules. onojoe (call him Player 1) started with a 99 Wallstreet with smooth autumn bone, and the successful player (say, Player 2) is someone with the identical knife. But, here's the kicker: Player 2 then posts a second knife, a DIFFERENT knife, (e.g., a Case chestnut bone CV Peanut) that anyone who wants to play then tries to match exactly. If Player 3 can match Player 2's peanut, then Player 3 gets to post a knife for the rest of us to try to match.

So the game does lead to posting a huge variety of knives, but always in identical pairs; you get to see someone who has a knife just like yours (twice, actually - once as the matcher and once as the matchee). The only drawback is what meako alluded to: Player 2 could "kill" the game by posting his or her one-off custom, or funky mod, that has no twin.

I think it's a cool game, onojoe, and you laid out the rules clearly!;)

Right. I keyed off of what Ed said, about there already being a Notable pairs thread. Its of no consequence, I have gone back and edited all my posts as to not further confuse or bore the reader/player of the game.

Play on

Yes, it will work provided Customs and one of a kind antiquities are excluded.

Game on!

Where's the game? So far 4-pictures of knives and three of those are of the same knife. Maybe the rules are too murky. How about just pictures of doubles in people's collections or better yet just a discussion of knives.

Tdhurl1103... You had a really good idea too. Lets see where this goes. I like your idea, I loosened up the OP I am sure someone can match the buck, lets see where we go
