What do you remember of knives as a little kid of say 10 or younger?

I can remember picknicks and my dad and uncle using thier pocket knives to make hot dog sticks for the kids. I guess thats why I do it for the family. I can remember my dad was not a knife person, but in the 1940's and 50's it was normal for a man to have a knife. My Uncle Paul always had this little brown handle two blade pocket knife he would make whisles for the kids out of reeds. All the men seemed to carry a two blade slipjoint of some sort.

Faint memories of my favorite uncle opening his Key snuff cans with a barlow style pockeknife. Another uncle used to clean his smoking pipe with some sort of specialty tool that he kept on a tray next to his ashtray. I also remember the upperclassmen in my school used to carry sheathed Buck 110s on their belts. That's something you won't see nowadays.

I remember dove hunting and dissecting a dove during a lull in the action. Had just removed the eyes and one flew over and I was rewarded for my desecration by losing my knife right then and there.
Went back and never could find it.
