I am newer to knives. Used them for years, and learning more about them daily. Learning steels and their inherent qualities. When younger I was a knife sharpening freak, and did quite well. Now being an adult, I've lost my touch somewhat. I am looking for someone that I can spend a few hours with learning how to really get a knife sharp and learn some tips and techniques.

Maybe even a custom knife maker and pay for a few hours shop time to learn the finer points. I live on the US/Canada border, and north of Seattle would be better and easier, but can anyone help me out ??

Go to the Oregon Knife show in April! You will find help with anything about knives. Bernard levine will be helping people identify odd stuff(knives), and there will be several sharpening experts there. This is the best year to go in a while as some guest organizations will be there, making over 500 tables!! The Bowie Collectors and the Miniature knife collectors, Terry Davis, Bill Ruple and a gazillion other top people. It's a little south of Seattle, in Eugene, but not to be missed! People travel from Florida and New England every year for this one. I guess you can tell I love that show!

What's up with your "Location"? I thought you needed help in Seattle.

Your Location says: SW New Mexico

I could, and can, get the Sharpmaker, but it is not feasible to carry the sharpmaker to 10,000 feet for a touch up when skinning a mt. goat. If the contestants of the various chopping competitions are using the sharpmaker to cleanly slice thru soda cans and several plys of manilla rope, then I guess I am interested..........
