Knife Models by David Mary and Collaborations

Ouderk-Ark

A design influenced heavily by the Spyderco Ark, an example of which my friend Dave Ouderkirk owned, and expressed his interest in a revamped version a little larger with a more utility oriented blade shape. I asked him for a drawing, and this knife design is a representation of that drawing. All three syllables are pronounced in succession just like Dave's family name, no pause for the hyphen.

Goodnight Filet

At the behest of our very own oldmanwilly oldmanwilly David Mary custom is pleased to bring you, in collaboration with the aforementioned Willy, this third person narrative announcement of the Goodnight Filet, named for the Father of the Texas Panhandle, pioneering frontiersman and cattle rancher, Charles Goodnight.

More to come after the build is completed (expected within a few months). Only four prototypes exist at this time, in 3/32” AEB-L at 61 HRC, one of which is claimed.

Perfect for carving up slabs of meat. It's off to a great start!

Cannot wait to see this all cleaned up with a DM handle creation.

Thanks for posting norcalAF norcalAF ! The Mini Emiko was a one off knife I made purely on a whim earlier in 2025, and as I often like to do, I ceded naming rights to the first customer to purchase on of a given model. I have not made any more since, making this a completely unique design at the time of this post (photos courtesy of NorcalAF).

EDC Universal 2

A large but still EDC capable blade, designed with a squared off blade shape that I can make into whatever is desired, such as in the case of this hybrid spear/drop point. Photo from the original thread introducing the model.

GT Cleaver

I made this at the request of a customer who commissioned it late 2024, and I completed it earlier this year. It is basically a generic Chinese style veggie cleaver in thin stock with a super tall blade. It will also take apart chickens like nobody's business. When I first got the blanks in hand (I had four cut, due to batching requirements that NJSB had at the time - which we have since renegotiated) I started dreading the job. By then I had already promised two guys I would make one for them, so I quickly cut the other two blanks down into smaller santoku knives and discontinued the model, not wanting to have to grind any more of these than I had do.

HOWEVER! I sold myself short, and the build was far easier than I had anticipated. So I have officially "undiscontinued" this model, though I don't have specific plans to make more at this time. But I will if anyone wants one.

Tanto of Opportunity

I actually designed the Midnighter Fighter on cardboard one night (really late, hence the name) and the off cut piece ended up being the Tanto of Opportunity. I actually thought the design was great looking, but I felt maybe it was too weird for most people. Nevertheless I showed the cardboard cut out to the guys in my shop thread, and almost immediately someone wanted one! Here is the one I made for him, which is the first one I ever made of the design.

That handle material is a looker! Looks like snakeskin!

Flip Point

And because not everyone likes tantos, I made a few of the Tanto of Opportunity with the subtip removed, and those became the Flip Point:

Both models are something I am willing to do again, and I have added designs variants which include guards for those who want them, as well as add jimping, though I could make them without if desired.

The front is Indian Ebony, and the rear is "Frogwood", a discontinued natural wood laminate product by a company called Frogblanks, in their green and charcoal grey configuration. Even though Frogblanks is closed, my first acquisition of that material years ago was a very large chunk, and to this day I still have enough left to make several more knives with it. As you can guess, I have been somewhat miserly with it!

I will have to flesh the rest of this out later, but I wanted to at least remove the preorder prefix from the threads and pricing since they are no longer applicable as such.
