Knife Needs a Fingernail Groove

As the title states I've got a brand new Boker Plus pocket knife.

You can see it here:
https://www.amazon.com/Böker-01BO026-Boker-Carbon-Knife/dp/B004OK8DWE

I know, it's a Chinese knife but I purchased it for aesthetics, which is a first for me.

I should say that I wouldn't buy a piece of junk just for the looks, knife is well made with a decent piece of steel and it takes a good edge. And as stated it's just a beautiful knife for throwing in my offside pocket, no clip, smooth and I love the lock.

But the problem is there is no fingernail groove!

So is there someone to trust that wouldn't charge a fortune that can fix this for me?

Thanks

Well I am sure there are some pros here that will offer but my first thought was : You.

Here is a link to a discussion. Link<<<<<
There must be others if you search nailnick nail groove and perhaps pros offering there.

Wow, thanks for the response.

My situation is that we are living with the in-laws temporarily and there is no tool option for me at this time. I think the father in law has some screwdrivers and maybe a cordless drill, you get the picture.

Yup
Here is a link to the Pros here. I had to look it up; I have never looked over there before. My first love is metal work, machining and welding so I can usually (so far) fake it for my own knives.

There should be someone over there or you could ask in the Traditionals Forum.

This is odd: I have one of those Boker Plus Carbon knives that I bought used, and it has a thumbstud. I started wondering if it was added by a previous owner, and did a Google Image search. I'm seeing some with, and some without thumbstuds. Maybe some are counterfeits? Or they changed the design at some point? Or two versions were made for areas with different legal restrictions?

Either way, it's a nice knife, and it pinches open easily without a nail nick.

Thanks so much for the direction, being new here I haven't found much yet.

Don't know about the stud, my dealer only had one he sold me on closeout for 34.95 so I snapped up the little purty thing quick!

Well since you haven't found much yet I will offer my "totally insane; what planet are you on (meaning me) . . . answer " that I almost posted first :

You could always go to a local jeweler, maybe look for one more along the lines of hippy artist working with some of the less precious stones, (not putting anyone down here) rather than the high brow diamonds and gold jewelers.

See what they say. Would save on shipping. Might get it back faster than one of the knife makers here who want to focus on making knives.

I mean the jewelers cut and grind stones; they ought to be able to cut a groove in your hardened steel blade and make it look nice. Just need to find the right one who is competent but in need of cash.

Pinches open
Don't underestimate this. I would rather do that than use a nail nick.

With a little practice that can mean it is a one hand opener.
Hook it on a pocket.
