Knife "Oak" (HSSteel and oak root)

Hi!
Let me show you the latest work.

Blade by Denis Pikov (aka Ito Matsumoto, Russia) forged HS Steel 176/32.5/4.5 mm
Handle is made of oak root with titan and brass furniture, 120 mm
Veg-tan leather sheath with oak insert.

Whoa! I'm not sure I've ever seen Oak root wood, it looks great.
 
The oak root looks like a nice walnut burl, it must be very hard wood! The grain & shape really compliments the design. Very nicely done.

This oak root wood really turned out to be the most difficult wood to cut on my experience. I shape handles only with set of files and It was terribly hard to cut it, as well as to do it with saw. It is not the hardest wood, definetely softer than iron wood, but due to the character of fibres, I think, it is almost impossible to make it crack. So... really good one. May be it is an oak root-burl part... can't check it.
