carrying a knife on a train

I have never rode a train before except when I lived in Europe. I'm wondering on the security of Amtrak, I am going home for thanksgiving and I'm taking the train from NY to Philly. Do they have metal detectors? Or is it just like a subway?

Keeping it here is an option but I feel naked without a knife if you know what I mean.

Ride the rails you speak of. In the NorthEast, you are good to go.

Can't say elsewhere.

Absolutely no security check to board Amtrak's Coast Starlight here in Portland.

When I board a train to go visit my dad in Hillsboro, Oregon, I always have a knife or two on me...

Its really scary, if you wanted to take a gun and a grenade or two on a train, there is nothing stopping you from doing that.

Road Amtrak from Connecticut to DC...no probs...I doubt there are any security checks at ANY train station...although, wth do you do with a hijacked train?? I suppose you could shoot people but that's about it.
