Knife on PROREZ cover

If anyone has seen the cover of PROREZ 2 2006 knife magazine (the one listed on www.beshknives.com) with the article on the XSF-1), can you tell me what the knife is that is featured on the cover of the magazine? It reminds me of several knives but is not any knife that I know.

Also, can someone please expalin to me what an angle 8 cut is and why the Emerson Combat Karambit opens into this so well.
