I was curious as to what you guys thought about the SOG Seal Team 2000 knife were. I read about it and it sounded like a real good knife, and the web site said that it was the choice of the US Navy SEALs. Is it any good? Or is it all talk? Thanks in advance for all of the help.

I don't own one, but it seems like a very solid knife. The only thing I could see wrong with it was the 440A steel, which, because it's one of the so-called true stainless steels, would be best for the Seals purpose I suppose, but I don't like it. :) It looks to have everything it needs for its intended purpose, and good construction as well. I don't take too seriously the endorsements by military groups of any kind. Not that they don't know what they're doing, but just that there's so many knife companies claiming most of the same things about at least one of their products. Overall SOG builds their knives very well. You don't hear much about them, like BM, Spyderco, etc, because there's not really much to complain about, and their designs are generally purpose-driven and not catch-the-eye driven(although the Jet-edge and Vision are surely eye-catching). To make a long story short, I don't think you can waste your money on a SOG, they're all good knives.

Though 440-A isn't BG-42, I hear SOG's heat treatment is awesome. The SEAL 2000 looks like a good rough and tough knife, and a more than adequate fighter! I hear that the SEAL pup is issued to SEALS. If you are going to be around possibly corrosive environments and don't have the $$ for talonite or titanium, a SEAL could do you no wrong.

It could do you no wrong anyways, if you like it. It will cut just fine and should be easy to sharpen.

I own two now, one for my collection and one for normal use. They perform great. The blade holds a great edge, and is easy to resharpen. Only improvement I would really like is a more agressive serration pattern. They get the job done, just not as much bite as others such as Mission, and Microtech.

Thanks for all of the help guys! I am vey thankful (as always) that you guys are so full of knowledge. Glad to hear such good things abot SOG.

One of my friends have one and it is a good knife. I prefer a completely plain knife, as opposed to a blade with a small amount of serrations at the base of the blade; bevel is a little thick as well. Other than that, it is a good knife, sharpens up real good.
