Knife organizations, which ones do you belong to?

Recently it was dicussed about Guild honorary members getting into the New York Knife show early. This would be a perk for being a member of this organization. What I want to know is, what organizations do you belong to, and what perks do you see as a member?

I'll start it off

Professional Knifemakers Association (PKA)
I get to set up at there great show

I get a link on there website www.proknifemakers.com
Members are very good about helping one another out

Arkansas Knifemakers Association

They also put on a yearly show

They have shop visits regularly

Special hammer-ins at Texarkana for members
Regular newsletter, and directory of members

Now it is your turn

I had checked on this before and got no response. How does one become a guild honorary member?

I'd like info on guild honorary memberships also.
I belong to the Arkansas Knifemaker's Association, Professional Knifemakers Association, Australiasian Knife Collectors and I am a founding member of the Texas Knifemakers and Collectors Association.

None, aside from bladeforums I am groupless. Does anyone know of any groups in the Seattle area?

Thanks,
Mitch

National Knife Collectors Association: This may be the oldest knife collector's group in the country. It puts on knife shows across the United States and provides many folks their first opportunity to see benchmade knives and meet new and well established makers.

The Knife Maker's Guild: The professional association of knifemakers.

American Knife and Tool Institute: The industry organisation that's taken on the task of representing manufacturers and their supporters (us).

Let's just say that enlightened self interest means any group that provides a positive message about knives is a great benefit. Of course great shows, great knifemakers and collectors the newsletters are pretty knice also.

Take care,

Mike

The only organization that i belong to is the
North Carolina Custom Knifemaker's Guild.
We are sponsors of the Southeastern Custom Knife Show each September in Winston Salem, NC. We also sponsor knifemaking classes at Montgomery Community College in Troy, NC.

The best reason to be a member is the comraderie. There isn't a single member that won't go out of his way to help another. That applies to both makers, suppliers, and collectors.
