China is tightening security on knife owners prior to the olympics.

It's funny that the article shows a photo of steak knives stuck into holders shaped like little people. I wonder if steak knives will be considered "potentially dangerous" by the authorities? If the chef gets to keep his knives others might do with chopsticks? If chef knives are dangerous too, then a lot of tourists will be gnawing on slabs of meat.

I seem to recall the guy who stopped the army tank in Tiananmen Square was completely unarmed...

That, my friends, is what happens when you do not have Second Amendment rights. Those who support Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama had better take note; these two liberals are no friends of those who own firearms or other weapons such as knives.

This is the same government that would have us believe that Tibetan monks are stockpiling fifty-year-old weapons and ammunition in order to stage some kind of rebellion.

I hear a cash strapped dictatorship playing a familiar tune. Maybe they don't have any guns, but knives make another tyranical target.

First round up the knife owners, and force them to pay fees for licensing, and registration of all knives.

Make cooks pay for travel permits to move their knives to and from restaurants.

Categorize the knives, and create restricted weapons knives categories and prohibited weapons.

Force all knife owners to take knife safety courses, and to fill in long forms and pass mental fitness tests.

Then just for the tyranical fun of it all, order a complete ban on all knives at a later date for the sake of public safety. Then conduct safety checks on all chopsticks and force all owners of chopsticks to re-register their chopsticks every year.

All of China's other problems seem trivial, now that we know that they are going to enforce regulations on 22cm (9") knives with blood grooves.

What's the next knee-jerk reaction, banning nail-clippers on aeroplanes travelling to and from the Olympics?

To be fair, many of our "free world" politicians advocate or wish they could do the same thing. Totalitarian knife laws in the UK, Washington D.C. gun ban, NYC "gravity knife" BS... the list goes on. :grumpy:

When did Bloomberg become an advisor to the Chinese government? :D

More importantly this is the kind of crap that Clinton and Obama would support in a heartbeat.

I love it when Clinton says we have the right "to keep a gun for hunting and sport". :barf: Where in the Bill Of Rights does it ever mention hunting and shooting sports?

Neither of them signed the amicus brief submitted on behalf of 255 members of Congress (including 55 senators) which supported the pro-Second Amendment position in the Heller case before the Supreme Court. They're both disingenuous government-control types who don't believe the "peasants" should be allowed to carry weapons.

Here we go
