I know that Utility and Defense can be combined, but what it the focus of your INTENT with carrying an Emerson Knife?

Obviously anyone that is familiar with Emerson Knives and Ernie know the knives' designed use is for defensive purposes, and IMHO, this is also what makes them great utility knives. They have been overdesigned to handle the extreme, so mundane utility tasks are just a walk in the park. Having said that, I carry my Commander and waved 7B strictly for defensive purposes, and I use different Emersons for utility[Mach-1 at work, a different Commander at home], to keep the defensive blades virgin with the factory edges.

I agree with Brigadier,I always carry my SOCFK but if I need to dress it up a bit I'll carry my MV-1 so i'll be voting defensive

Same as Brigadier. My first Emerson, a Commander, was purchased for defense and general use. The Collecting bug I got from reading the Suspects' posts and looking at all your pictures.

I'm lucky. I have a serrated Commander for chores. I have a waved 7 and a Commander for defensive purposes. The rest are for collecting and for more formal occasions.

One more day to vote. It's not like you have to put your name in here. Kick it up so it somewhat resembles the numbers in the Waved 8 Poll.

The Wave is the fastest deployment of a folder from the carry position. When you need a defensive knife, alot of bad things have already transpired. The Folder needs to be lighting fast because you're under attack and your 'D' plan is shot to hell..

In such a case; cosmetics, minor imperfections, and cost of ownership are outside the scope of critical design and function.
