hello everybody. Im new to this forum and have spent the last few days going thru a gallery of old knives that is just incredible. I just have to know how you guys take such great photos.I have a digital camera and have seen reference to using a scanner. How is it done?

Essentially there are two ways:

Free membership:
1. Take picture, save picture to computer.
2. Get an account at a free picture hosting site like Photobucket, Flickr etc.
3. Copy the URL of the Picture...
3. back to Bladeforums - in the message box where you typed in your question there are some icons similar to MS word. Click on the "insert image" icon and add the URL from your picture...
4. thats it...

For payed members:
1. You can do the same as above or
2. You can "go advanced" in the message window.
3. Click "attach" and follow the attach instructions in the pop up...
4. Then you can easily go back to your attached pics and post them in different areas if appropriate...

Hope those suggestions helped!!

he wants to know how to make them , not how to post them, but that is always good info :D
as for the question, I guess practice is the best way, along with some great information found around the internet.

First, WELCOME!

Second,
There are some great discussions in The Gallery about photographing knives and post production of images.

A couple of good threads can be found with "Search".
Look for a thread by PhilL, titled "How I Photograph Knives".
and "How I do Image Editing".
AND
Threads by SharpbyCoop (one of the best knife photographers around),such as one titled:
"No Frills'$75.00 Home Studio/Lightbox"

If you haven't seen it, you've GOT TO see Coops gallery of knives. Jaw Dropping!
