I am one of these many forum members who grew up on a farm and in the outdoors and pays his dues, reads many, many forum threads, and posts little. So, I thought it was time for a short post to show the fruits of several years of reading, bargaining, buying, selling, trading and the like. Like many readers, my budget does not yet allow for a large collection of knives. Therefore I am required to read, read, read and then buy and sell and trade to finally arrive at the knife I think would work best for me. That being said, I'm proud to say I have owned and used knives from Laconico, JK Handmade, ML, NWA, Koyote, Landi, Bark River, ESEE, Fallkniven, Ontario, the original Ranger Knives, Benchmade, Emerson, Gerber, etc., etc. There are many knives out in the woods with other people that I sometimes wish I had back (I'm sure many of you can relate).

Much, if not all, of these parts of my outdoors kit are a direct result of PM conversations, reviews and posts from forums members such as hollowdweller, bushman5, pitdog, JK handmade, Rick Marchand, rescueriley, laconico, sicily02, mtwarden, iawoodsman, k_estela, myakka, bearthedog, talfuchre, jwilliams, brianjones, joezilla, and so many other forum members (I'm sure I missed many). So, I just wanted to throw out a thank you in the new year as I'm excited to spend more time outdoors and using the skills and tools I've learned about on this forum.:thumbup:

So, enough with any sappy stuff...:D:D:D. Here is the current small knife collection as it stands...and is likely to stand for some time.

The newest member is of the fixed blade variety and I just received it from JK Handmade last week. It is a simple, rugged, and does-everything-pretty-well 6" blade (O1, 3/16th) with tan micarta handles and black liners. I added a Spec Ops sheath which holds a SAK Trekker, small swedish fire steel, scraper, small flashlight, magnesium bar, and whistle. If you want to see more pictures of this knife, go to http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=808197.

Next, is one of my favorite knives from NWA. A 4" Sierra scout with a beautiful leather bushcraft sheath and dangler. His handles are perhaps the most comfortable I've ever used.

Next, the venerable and always revered Fallkniven F1. My first serious bushcraft/outdoors knife and one I'm planning to keep for many years. It's seen some good adventures and performed well at all times.

Finally, the smallest fixed blade is the ESEE Izula. I've owned the RC 3 and 4, but the Izula is the only one that stayed. I love this little knife.

The folders are a similar story of trying, failing, and trying again. My favorite bushcraft/outdoors folder and the one that sees the most use is my Emerson, plain edge A-100.:thumbup:

Next, is the always popular Benchmade Griptillian, the Opinel No.7, the Gerber Diesel Multi-tool, and my SAK Trekker.

Well, that's all for now. Just a big thank you to all of these writers and outdoorsmen who take the time to share their insights, experiences and photographs with those of us on the forums.

I'd love to hear any thoughts about what I should add to this small and strategic collection when budgets allow. :)

Hi othello -

Sweet collection - and great choices!

I have always thought an A100 would be a great folder.

You know I love the JK's, and I am pleased that your well-thought out collection contains many of the same knives that I have in my collection.

I too have benefited from the great advice and reviews that I have read here.

Thanks for the pictures.

best regards -
