Knife Porn ebook: anyone want one?

I saw a book today called Bike Porn. I'm not a bike person but it was a cool idea. So I got thinking.

I have a publishing venture called Capitalized Living (duh, right), and I've published several print books that sell on Amazon.com. I could compile and publish a Knife Porn book, with pictures submitted by members of this forum, and publish it as a Kindle ebook, and charge nothing for it. That way, we could all have something cool to look at, and no one who submits their photos has to worry about me making money from their work.

Would anyone be interested in this, either as a contributor or as a reader/viewer of the final product? And also, am I even allowed to do this here?

It could have a softcore porn section, with pictures of pristine knives, and a hardcore porn section with dirty, bloody, rusted and stained knives.
 
How about a picture book that has images sized for use as wallpaper on your electronic devices. Maybe have a choice of books with different image sizes based on screen sizes?
 
Awesome idea! I take atrocious pictures so my contributions would be nonexistent, but I love the idea. Even cooler would be a hard copy of the book, maybe a large, color photo coffee table book/ conversation piece. I would certainly buy one of those!
 
Wow, cool. Thanks for all of your interest! What I'd need to start with is a basic plan for the contents, and contributions to fill them in. Since it's an ebook it could have as many pages as we wanted it to, whether 50 or 500. I propose around 50-100, that way it's substantial but not too massive. And that leaves room for sequels...

So for contents, I'm thinking of it from the perspective of the "graphic content" (AKA porn) analogy. So I was thinking they could be categorized by "dirty" or "clean" as opposed to the usual categories of size, type, etc. That way we could basically determine the number of images we wanted and then vet the entries, which could be any kind of knife, as long as the photo is killer. And I mean drool-inducing, heart palpitations killer. Some will be pretty, and others will be seriously nasty.

Anyone could enter, but the photo has to meet the formatting requirements (which I would still have to determine).

An above post asked about screen sizes. Kindle is pretty versatile from my experience - I read ebooks and PDFs using the Kindle app on my PC, Mac, and crappy Motorola phone, so I don't think multi-device viewing should be a problem.

Finally, I vote that we use this thread to pick contributors, but if everyone wants one person to be elected Editor in Chief, then who am I to argue?

Yes! With a wide range of pics of pretty knives, knives in action in all sorts of knife activity, using, carrying, graphic or cute. New knives, old knives, even dying knives on their last legs. Bring it on.

Exactly! I couldn't have said it better myself.

I am installing a Kindle app for designing "picture books" and will take it for a test run. That will give me the information I need to provide format specs to the contributors.

What I will probably need is for people to submit pics by either posting a low res version here or sending it directly to me. We can decide what we like and, based on that, the submitter can provide me with a higher res version for inclusion in the ebook.

We can start right now. Now who wants to send me their porn?
 
sounds pretty neat. I wouldn't be down with contributing if there were graphic images in there, lacerations etc, but for dirty, working knives I'm interested.
