Anyone know of an knife pricing guide app? Someone could retire off that creation.

The introduction of such an app would probably lead to very strict MAP policies and self defeating

Just learned something new. Had to look that up. So do knife pricing guide books create the same problem?

I guess it depends on what kind of knife you're talking about. I've never used a pricing guide. But if you were looking for the best price on common items that would be different than looking for collectables.

Thats true. I recently have taken an interest in the traditional folder style. I have a lot to learn on discerning quality over aesthetics. Thought some type of guide may help with that, not to mention my wallet.

advance search on sold listings on ebay is always a good reference and some sales thread on the exchange should help as well. It's a lot of homework.

I've never tried google shopping but I have done what hairlesstwinkie mentioned. Though, in doing that it is hard to tell if someone is buying/pricing accordingly. It gives me a ball park but doesn't really take into account nostalgia or aesthetics.
I suppose the "homework" is the fun part and certainly a necessity.

Goins' Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings is about to be my first "text book". Thought I would pass this along in case another newbie has the same question.
