Knife Project

Awhile back I purchased a Cold Steel BushRanger Carbon V Blade off Ebay. It was just a coated blade without the Kraton handle. The seller claimed it came from the Camillus auction and I got it pretty cheap so figured I would make it into a kitchen knife. The coating was chipping off and I realized I needed some help because the handles would have to be milled out. I contacted Richard J and he said he would like to do the project and I wanted to see his sharpening ability with the paper wheels anyway. I sent him the blade with some Walnut wood my father had given me. Richard stripped the blade and gave it a satin finish. Richard also milled the handles and sharpened the blade on his paper wheel's. My father then shaped the handles on his sander. It came out a lot better than I ever expected and thought I would show it for those that might be interested in Richard's work. It is a great slicer and will be a good kitchen knife.

Thats great looking.Richard,Did you strip the paint or just regrind the whole blade?

i stripped the finish while putting the satin finish on. there were some lines that were close to the plunge line that i had to get out but they were not as bad as some knives i have stripped in the past. the reason most companys coat their blades is to hide the blemishes in the steel.
