I have the opportunity to purchase 1 of 3 knives. A ProTech Malibu in either bronze scales with a pearl button ($480) or black aluminum ($260), or a ProTech x Strider automatic ($260). All 3 are in magnacut. Where should I spend my money? Looking for multiple inputs/experience!

I would go protect Malibu aluminum. Had a mordax a while back. Really really slick and awesome action. Wasn't for me but I enjoyed my time with it. I end up trading/selling all of my auto or assisted blades... so out on the third one. If I'm spending close to $500 on a knife I'd buy a CRK if you don't already have one.

I regret my Pro-Tech purchase. The Protech-Strider SNG develops blade play rather quickly. Found myself adjusting the pivot waaaaay too often. Awesome knife, for awhile, then not.

I hope you have better luck.

To clarify:

I am not trash-talking Pro-Tech or the fine folks who likely work there.

I simply stating they fumbled in the QC area when completing the knife I bought.

Wouldn't want to get a 'cease and desist' thingie...

The TR-3 is worse, I digress.

Are you really worried about posting an honest comment about the quality of a product?

Granted, the First is just toilet paper at this point but that should not keep you from telling the truth.

Who are you to question my attempts at diplomacy? Who are you to question my honesty?

I don't answer to you.

You try some blue lock tight? If you like the knife and that’s the only issue, I’ll bet it could be fixed….
