Hey, I'm new here and this is my first post. I am looking for a new knife. I have a Buck 110, a couple other cheap knives, and a Benchmade 940 I received as an amazing Bar Mitzvah gift a few years ago. I dont need a knife for self defense (I wouldn't know what to do any way)(or i could just "stab them with the pointy end" ...its a reference) I'm just looking for a knife for EDC, that's relatively light (preferably). I also love aesthetics, as long as it doesn't get in the way of practical applications. I had my eye on other Benchmade knives such as the 710, Griptilian, and others. I was also looking into zero tolerance knives. I'm not bothered by price too much, my limit is probably $400? Sorry if I didn't include certain necessary information, feel free to notify me and I will add it. Thank you very much!

Check out the lionsteel SR-1 it comes in aluminum or titanium that is made from 1 solid chunk its a nice edc size and is extremely comfortable to hold. I just got mine in and love it

If 400 is your price point you have a lot of room for some higher end stuff. Just a few, a small sebenza, paramilitary 2(if you can find one), manix 2, and I can name a few more if you would like:D

Obviously something made of Valeryian steel would be ideal. The 710 is a sweet choice. At your price range you could get one and then a Grip and something else. Chris Reeves are beautiful. Strider, ZT, Spyderco the choices are endless. How big or small are you looking to go?

Lanzman/Homeboy forget the shivs and get yourself a pistol. If you really want a blade, get a spyderco for edc. Nuff Said

If you need a knife for light to medium cutting use the Benchmade 940 you already have. It's a great carry knife for things like that.

I'm guessing that if you're still referring to your Bar Mitzvah only a few years in the past then I recommend using the $400 on dating and have some fun with it. ;)

aluminum scaled ken onion, knives .... leek, scal, any old onion

aluminum leek is very nice knife, super sharp, perfect size blade, very compact

ken rocks

i bought this for my daughter with tiger eyes:

Kershaw Leek Assisted, Blue Smoke HDL, BEADBLAST BLDE, 4" CL

Consider things like where you live (legal knife restrictions), where you work, the kinds of cutting you do daily, and how you'll carry the knife (clipped, on a belt, down in pocket). You can narrow your range of choices according to those requirements.

Consider the blade lock also, some folding knives don't lock very well. Liner locks will close if they are not ground correctly.

i will add, i have the new zt 0560 cbcf, it is my favorite for these reasons:

1 very light for the size
2 welded blade is cool for use and too look at
3 super fast action right out of the box, i mean it is so smooth
4 over all it is perfection of hinders designs
5 lifetime warranty if you use it!

it is a beast, there is mini version coming out 0566 smaller then the 0560, many of these knives are not of legal carry size. remember that, as above, check local rules.

lastly last i see them trading at below retail on the secondary market with in your $400 range

he got 69 that is more fun then 96, a guy just opening number 69:

if you know a cop order a hinder, my second favorite is:

DPx Gear HEST 2.0 - just a cool knife.

you never know when you need a window buster, or pot holder or bottle opener

KAI 2012, released next month

i say the ZT 888 if you can get one, only 250 of each color, so i am sure they be high, of the extras next month is best of the new knives all titanium - ZT and KAI really have stollen the show, the blade show, for last 3 years so i think it is good investment. keep it nice and use it.

this is good video, ok it is bad, shows the 0600, 888 and cbcf - i am kewshaw/ZT biased:

0777 no doubt way too high as the 888 i do not like due too the poor reverse grip - 0888 i am not sure off. regardless they are going to be high in secondary market and all are sold out, you can sign up at a lot of sites that sell them and hope for an extra or someone who does not buy the presale.
