hi, i was wondering if you guys can recommend me a knife. i'm looking for a small gent knife. i'm personally looking at the drifter and ripple from CRKT. i know that the ripple is super thin, but I am not sure about the drifter. by any chance can you give me the measurements of the thickness of the handle? of both the g10 and stainless steel? i would really appreciate it.

other than those two, do you guys recommend any other knives?
Pricing doesn't really matter but I would like to keep it around cheap~$70

i personally own a tenacious, but it seems kind of hefty to carry.

Thanks!

I have several nice gentlemen knives.

The Ripple is a special design, I have it and it's quite ok, but I prefer my below recommendations.

Here are 3 suitable knives I suggest for consideration within your budget. I add links to short review clips I made about all of these, in case you are interested.

- Boker Plus Exskelibur 1 (full size, high tech modern yet elegant, a superb knife)
- Boker Plus Exskelibur 2 (smaller brother of above, lovely)
- Spyderco Centofante 3 (thinnest blade of all Spydercos and classy feel, all for a good price)

Or simply the immortal Victorinox alox Soldier (now called Pioneer)

a little bit bigger blade size would be better

Welcome to BF.
There is trade off as with everything in the world. bigger blade = more steel & handle/liner material. More steel & handle/liner material = more weight. I cannot fathom how you consider 4oz to be hefty. Being clipped inside my pockets, I cannot even notice my Gayle Bradley, Military, or Izula. Not to mention my keys, cell phone and all the other junk I carry daily.

Have you tried the Delica? or maybe a Dragonfly?

I was checking out that Buck Nobleman. Is that CF one a frame lock? How thick is the handle closed?

I meant that it is big and thick. I've looked at the Delica, but I am not a fan of the FRN

That Drifter is something for $20. I'm surprised at how high quality
and well built it is for the price. You should get one regardless just
cause it's a nice and easy piece to start/add to a collection.

It's not CF but a print that looks like CF, and in some way rubber was applied to the handle as well.
It's a frame lock.
Thickness: I don't have it to hand right now, but I discuss it in the same clip linked above as the Exskelibur 2.

Gotcha. Do you like the Dragonfly? I have the Dragonfly tattoo and it's awesome.
Either of the Centofante knives will work great. I personally like them both.

I just ordered a CRKT Drifter stainless steel for $25 next day shipping. =]

Dragonfly is okay.

Thanks for all the recommendations.

For a slim gentleman's knife, I'm sure one of the Kershaw Leek series would suit you.

Really slim, especially in stainless handle models. They're well within your budget, except the G10 and S30V models.

EDIT: Haha, too late... Congrats on the purchase, enjoy your knife!

I was going to suggest the Leek too, but would like to hear your impression of the Drifter. I came close to buying one, but waffled at the last minute.

Hmm, I'll check out the Leek too.

Does anyone have the measurements of the thickness of the CRKT Drifter G10 handles?

We seem to have different ideas of what is a "gentleman's knife". To my mind, such knives are small, thin, elegant, and generally traditional. Perfect examples would be AG Russell's Ultimate Pen Knife, and its two bigger lockback brothers. Sticking with AG Russell, the Funny Folder and the Mini Lockback would qualify.

There are many gentlemen's knives, and none of them have thumbholes or plastic. Simple elegance is their hallmark.

I checked out the Leek, it seems to be assisted. I believe that it is illegal in California.

I just got the Drifter, and I have to say I like it. I'm not used to flicking it open, but hopefully I get it down soon. I might add a lanyard to get a little extra grip.
