I want a big knife (8" to 12") for camp chores (light chopping and brush clearing), and to be used as a side arm -- back up to a hand gun. I prefer quality stainless because i kayak and canoe in fresh and salt water. But i am open to high carbon with stain resistance. Budget is $200. Weight 150z limit.

The first choice that comes to mind is a Busse Bush ______. But it is $200 over budget. SOG Tiger Shark also comes to mind but it is a tad heavy. And the spine is funky.

Thanks

what about a scrapyard regulator, and a tramontina?

the regulator is coated, and robust for chopping while the tramontina can be used for brush clearing.

then buy yourself an endura with the money you saved to celebrate the money you saved

Whenever anyone says knife in that size range I almost always think (short) machete... They come in all kinds of sizes, shapes, thicknesses, etc... For your consideration >>>

- 11" blade (0.12" thick)
- 16" OAL
- 13 ounces
- 440C stainless
- full tang
- lanyard hole
- well within your price range :D

Junglas, Junglas, Junglas.

Find one and beat the crude out of it, if you can.

I'm a Busse fanboy, but at your price range there shouldn't be a question about it.

Also, slightly shorted but great for water

Spyderco Rock Salt, snatch it up because I think they have been discontinued.

Junglas is def one to look at... plus IF you somehow broke it, they have the best warranty out there
