Hi all, I was hoping you can recommend a knife to me with the following specifications.

Purpose: EDC. This knife will be used for opening packages and other light use. The heaviest task that this knife will see is cutting cardboard.

Size: 6.5 to 7 in overall (2.75 to 3 in blade length). The size is not a strict requirement so off by 0.25 in is fine too.

Price: $30 or less. Preferably $25 or less. I am on a budget.

Type: Folding knife. EDC.

Steel: 8Cr13MoV, Aus8. I'm picky on this criteria, but stainless steel would be much better than carbon steel.

Other: I am fully aware that almost all knives that will be recommended are made in China. That is totally fine. In fact, I would prefer a Chinese brand knife, because I have not owned one yet. I am currently EDCing a Byrd Meadowlark 2 G-10, in case anyone was wondering. Also, does anybody have any opinions on the SRM 738 or the SRM GB-763?

I appreciate the help!

Do you plan on cutting mountains of cardboard, otherwise get a multitool.
Considered one of the cheaper leathermen multitools over pure knife seems to me its not really going to be used enough as a knife just to get a knife.

If you really want a blade, Opinel are cheap and quality for the price.. and not made in china.

My favorite package opener/box cutter is the Boker Plus Subcom F.

Disclaimer: I only own the RAT myself, the other two got good Reviews on here though.

As for "Folder on a budget" there are mostly these three recommended:

1. Ontario RAT 2
2. BRK / ESEE Zancudo
3. Ka-Bar Dozier

All in your specified size (well 7.25 inch, but you said +/- 0.25 inch is ok ;)), under $ 30,- and all offer a lot of knife for the money.
