Knife recommendations?

I'm not really a newbie at knife throwing, but I'd like to get a dedicated set of throwers to use for sport instead of using my more expensive blades that aren't designed for the job (even if they throw really well). I'm looking for a good set of 3+ throwers for under $40 preferably and I need some recommendations since I know very little about throwing knives specifically.

i personally like the design and weight of the cold steel pro balance thrower, but it only comes as one. it has good reviews as well, and the man who developed the no-spin throw uses them.

right now I'm looking at these two sets. Thoughts?

My mistake, feel free to repost your links

Why is the united set superior?

also, the SOGs say that they have better steel on most websites, but their own website says it's just 3cr13. Anyone know which one of these is true?

Better design. Still too small, though. The "Large" hibben thrower set would be better.

The SOG is too small and light, with a foolishly compromised handle design.

For throwers, you generally want carbon steel, at least 12 inches overall, and heavy.

The SOGs are actually larger than the Hibbens at 9.5" (the small Hibbens are 8.5). Pretty sure the SOGs are heavier as well, although I can't find weight info for the Hibbens. I know the SOG throwers with the logo cut into the handle are reaaaaallly poorly designed, but what's wrong with the handle on the flings?

If neither of those, what set should I look at?

here are the links again since they got removed further up. Adding in the S&W throwers as well for input on those

my buddy has a set of 7" united throwers that are too small and light to do much more than a full rotation, so I definitely want something large enough

They have a big long slot that will serve the same purpose as the stupid SOG lettering in the others you mentioned. These knives you are looking at are pretty short, and weigh ~half of what you want in a thrower. Carbon steel will be far better than chinese stainless.

I have 5 of the Condor 14 inch Dismissal throwers, and they each weigh about 12oz. I have been very pleased with them so far, after thousands of throws.

They do cost a bit more (I think I paid about $17 each.) but they are good quality. (for some reason they have the picture of the 12" model in the link, but they look very similar) The 12" costs a couple bucks less.

Of the ones you posted links for, I would only consider the Hibbens. However I have a recommendation or two I would happily make by direct e-mail. I left my e-mail address on your profile message site a couple of weeks ago when you first asked. I don't want to be "deal spotting." But I've tried two dozen sets now that I and others own and I know what works pretty well. I am by the way, also a fan of large Condor "Dismissals" and though the length for me can be 9" or greater, heavy really!! matters if you want them to stick in and not have to be picked up off the ground. Now if you are throwing at cardboard..... well that may be different.
