knife repair issue

They usually don't ship parts aside from pocket clips but in this case because it's just one exterior screw (I don't know balisongs so correct me if I'm wrong) you could be in luck. Call and see if they'll send it to you. I'm actually interested to hear!

You could send it back for repair, IF it were an actual Benchmade. What you have there is a fake

How can you tell? It looks like someone took a touch to it cause it scratched very easily, see the marks I did it with a screw driver.

I've never seen that model before, then again I am no bali expert, but it does look like a knock off.

That knife looks like it might make a decent paperweight if you melt it down.

I don't think i have ever seen a Benchmade Bali with a fuller for starters. Some of Microtechs early balisongs had that fuller. The butterly logo is upside-down, and it appears to be a bit more red than black, and the holes in the handles don't look like anything I've ever seen from Benchmade.

Is everyone being sarcastic here, or just some?

If you have to ask....:)

That is not a legitimate Benchmade, knock offs are not unheard of. Especially in the Balisong world.

well heck, I don't know.. never owned a benchmade. that is why I am asking. It belongs to the post master at my post office he said he got when he was in desert storm... He asked if I could just fix it and see what I can do with it. He's pretty cool he's been giving me all kinds of priority flat rate boxes for free.

There's nothing that can fix a burnt blade and crappy materials. You should tell him it's the knife equivalent of partially burnt fecal matter and that it should be replaced, it may have been overseas, but it's not the real deal. In whatever way you think is the most polite.

What you can do is measure the handle fastners and get some replacements for it. There is a store, can't recall the name thwt sells all manner of small torx bits, bolts, and screws. I cannot imagine it would be that much. Maybe Benchmade would send out the screws for a 51 and that would fit it. You could also take some 00 steel wool and work the scratches out of the blade and handle. It wouldn't take much.
