Does anybody here work on old slipjoints? I don’t have a lot in the one I just bought and am interested in having it repaired. The spear blade is off center which has bent the brass liner and caused one end of one of the scales to slightly separate. I need to straighten the blade and liner and have the scale re-pinned. I tried straightening the blade myself with no luck.

Last time I reached out to glennbad glennbad he wasn't taking any work at this time due to back log. Perhaps some space opened up since the holidays and New Year!

If not, I also recommend J jsdistin who I just got my knife back from. Class act that guy!

Good luck!

Thank y’all. Yes it looks like he was backlogged in his previous post. I will reach out to the guys y’all mentioned. Thanks.

I have a question related to this. I have a knife where the scales weren't pinned and one has come off. What is the best kind of glue to reattach it? And what kind of glue is good to reattach shields?

The best solution is to find a donor knife with a similar/same liner lock, and then the knife would have to be completely taken apart to replace the liner lock.

Super glue worked on one of mine for ... four years(?) and counting.

(only had the one come off ... I might be "lucky" in that regard? 🤔😇👍)

I'm not sure what would be best to reattach a cover.
Super Glue might work, depending on the cover material.

or braze, if that would work.
Depending on the blade condition of the new "doner knife" a blade swap from the existing knife might be easier ... or just tote the "donor" if the blade is good ...

The shield fell out of my Case Jigged Buffalo Horn BackPocket in S35VN - upon inspection of the inlet, there appeared to be burrs on one end of the oval that prevented the shield from being fully seated at the factory. I cleaned up the burrs, degreased the inlet, and used a five-minute, two-part epoxy to reset the shield. That's been over a year now, with plenty of authentic back pocket carry in the interim, and the repair is still better than new. YMMV.
