Knife Rights battle in NYC and Boston

Recently I got really excited about buying a Spyderco Native 5 after reading about it on this forum, but then I saw on Spyderco's website that they wouldn't ship to NY state (I don't live in NYC, just the state). What's up with that?? So I did a little research and it seems that Spyderco is just afraid of legal interpretation by DA Vance in NYC, but they chose to stop sales to anywhere in the state. Spyderco seems intimidated...

So to take some action today, I just donated to Knife Rights. Along the way I became informed of what is going on in Boston too. These are two leading cities in the US where if precedence is set then other cities may follow suit. We need to support the Knife Rights organization and ensure we can legally own the tools we use every day.

When I did donate I noticed one thing I was impressed by which was the strong financial support given by Benchmade, Wenger, CRK&T, Buck, KA-BAR, Becker, and a few others to the Knife Rights legal team. Unfortunately, it seems like many others are absent. I guess I'll have to switch my purchase over to one of the supporting vendors who isn't afraid of the ridiculous and illegal intimidation given by DA Vance.

I'm hoping some of my favorite knife makers (Chris Reeve, Spyderco, and Boker) that could be affected by this are stepping up.

Sorry for the rant, but not being able to get such a nice functional tool like the Native 5 just made me angry.

I have to send them a little more cash this year. Donated last year, but this isn't a one-time support effort.

There are plenty of online retailers that ship to NYS and either don't know about NYC bullsh!t or just don't care. You could have a Native in your hands in under a week.

Let's keep the names of those online retailers off of this public forum. You can bet that Bloomberg's "investigators" and DA Cyrus Vance Jr.s flunkies are lurking. Such information should be exchanged by PM only. Just a thought. Moderators, do you agree?

Yeah, bad idea. I also don't know if they're approved for a recommendation on the forum due to support/sponsorship issues. Plus, Bloomberg's probably tied into DHS data mining and gets weekly reports of "alarming" forum activity. Wait, they can't do that - only overseas sites are monitored that closely...

Slowjunk - if you haven't had much luck you can send me a PM or email.

Hopefully you NYers will get around to doing something about the criminal Vance. Time to yank hm out of office, isn't it?

I hate to say it, but getting rid of Vance will only lead to mfgs and retailers selling knives more freely in NYS, it probably won't slow down NYPD arrests for gravity knives, as they'll simply say these are "dangerous knives" and keep busting innocent people. The whole culture there needs a dope-slap. Quota-driven policing is a curse, and they live by it down there.

God help us, if Vance gets bounced out of the DAs office he'll probably run for statewide office...

Keep up the good fight look what gun owners were able to accomplish with the Heller Decision.
