Hello everyone, I just tried to purchase a folding knife over the internet today and when I entered my info was rejected because I live in New York State which has banned the sale of folding knives to private citizens!!!!!!! The following people: http://www.kniferights.org/index.ph... are heading up the fight to repeal this law. Believe it or not several states are trying to limit the rights of citizens from owning knives for their use and or protection just like guns. Needless to say I sent KnifeRights.org a contribution and intend to send a letter to my local senator. I am morally opposed to such an infringement of our collective rights. Hundreds of people yearly depend on these tools to work, conduct rescues and defend themselves. Thought you would like to know.

Moved to appropriate forum.

It's not so much NY State as NYC's interpetation (and therefore enforcement) of NY State Law. The city interprets any folding locking blade knife as a gravity knife. To most folks outside of NYC, they don't understand that NYC is not NY State and are therefore afraid to send anything to anyplace in the state :(

I haven't tried any other company but its cause for concern. Now I am wondering how this might effect our gun shows up here. You couldn't get me to live in NYC if you gave me free rent.

The law NYC is enforcing is a NYS law. This worries knife dealers because dealers in the city got hit for real money. Especially big dealers cannot take a chance on getting hauled into court or extorted by a DA climbing on that bandwagon.

I don't know about upstate gun shows but NYC had 2 knife shows a year, and both have now moved to NJ.
