Its not a specific BKT or Kabar post, but a knives in general post, but I wanted to provoke some thoughts in ya'll. It helps that Uncle E is heavy involved in KA, and ya'll should be too.

http://www.kniferights.org/ is their website, and it is an important issue. Doug Ritter is a KR guru, and spends alot of time and energy into helping all of us blade junkies, keep our blades and our rights to own said blades.

Take some time, and head over to their website and READ some. Perhaps join, maybe make a donation. Whatever you do, just read and HEAR whats being said, and what may happen to your ability to own a knife.

I was shocked to read about how close we have come, to losing the ability to own a knife, with a blade longer than 3", has an "acute" point, and a lock. Shocked.

Some draconian laws have been launched, but thanks to the good folks at KR been swatted down.

Just give it a real, honest look. Please.

It truly is the NRA of the knife world.

Just a heads up. Keep it about knives. Other political stuff can go elsewhere.

They recently tried to pass a law that made it illegal to conceal any knife longer than 3" here. That meant the only knife I could legally carry would have been the Remora. The KR came in and showed the person who was trying to pass the law, why it was a bad idea. I signed up for the e-mail alerts so I know when there is something going on here in WA.

Understood and will comply.

Thanks. I just want us to honor the spirit of Moose's thread and not turn it into a bash fest. Those types of threads never end well.
And believe me, there's plenty to talk about just in terms of knife rights.
Last time they were seriously threatened here in TN, I wrote letters.
I was bouyed by the fact that two of my representatives wrote me back in agreement.
Cooler heads prevailed, but that doesn't mean we should become apathetic.

Take a look at the laws in the UK as an example. They started with guns, moved to knives quickly thereafter. Spyderco has a line of non-locking folders specifically for this reason.

Look at our larger cities now - NJ NY are both non friendly to knives. In some states now you need a valid reason to carry a knife. And there is a lot of gray area as to what is a valid reason - defense is absolutely not valid. (legally, not by me)

Frankly, the level of freedoms we have allowed the Fed and State to subjugate from the people - with no complaint - is truly discouraging.

This is a great way to support Knife Rights and get your Saturday off to an exciting start. Last year's inaugural event was a success, and this year will be even better. A better breakfast, an incredible speaker, more awards and some exciting announcements.

Sandy Froman, past president of the National Rifle Association and one of the nation's foremost Second Amendment activists, will be the keynote speaker, with a talk titled "How To Win a Knife Fight--Lessons Learned in the Crucible of the Second Amendment"

Besides her continued involvement with NRA as a member of its Board of Directors with a lifetime appointment to the Executive Council, she is a past president and a current trustee of The NRA Foundation. Sandy was also recently elected chairwoman of the Joe Foss Institute, which is dedicated to promoting and teaching patriotism, public service, integrity and an appreciation for America's freedoms to our nation's youth.

Froman didn't shoot her first gun until she was in her early 30's. However, she favored knives from an early age and used her grandfather's pocketknife to whittle balsa wood kite frames into bows and arrows for hunting tomatoes in her mother's garden. Her love for knives was discouraged by her mother, but encouraged 25 years later by her late husband Bruce Nelson, who was a member of the American Bladesmith Society and studied knifemaking with Bo Randall and Dan Dennehy.

Sandy is a passionate, high energy and dynamic speaker who has traveled world-wide speaking in defense of our rights. Those attending Knife Rights' Sharper Future Awards Breakfast are in for a treat. Don't miss this unique opportunity to hear and meet Sandy Froman.

Never had a problem in Utah....................YET

I don't care what the law is, I will pack the knife of my choice.

I don't carry a blade for self defense so I see know problem with it....

Knives are not weapons, they are tools. All knives are good knives. There are no bad knives, only bad users.

I aplogize, it was supposed to be KR (Knife Rights Guru).:D I haven't been feeling well, and I guess I typo'd twice. I guess I probably should have said KR Founder, or Chairman, but, I was medicated. Forgive me?:D
