Knife roll storage

Somewhere on here I read about the "high cost of knife rolls." I've made some on the super cheap, and I think they should work well. Recently at Costco I saw some yellow automotive shop microfiber shop towels in a bundle of about 36 towels for $13 or so. They are 16" x 16". Fold into thirds, stitch the edges, mark 3 1/4" pockets. So 6 simple straight seams sewed with a sail needle and sail twine, gives me 5 pockets per towel. So a five pocket roll costs me about $0.40 or thereabouts. Less complicated than stitching a leather scabbard.

Any reason my microfiber autoshop microfiber towels shouldn't work and store my knives safely and rust free?

Microfiber clothe isn't as durable as leather or nylons, but it can easily work, I would recommend putting in kydex or thin plastic housings so your knives don't wear out the fabric.

Good idea. And I can buy a whole lot of microfiber shop towels for the cost of leather.
