Does anybody keep Buck 110's in a knife roll? I would like to explore some options for possibly storing some 110's in a cloth or leather knife roll. Thanks.

From what I've heard, a leather knife roll might be a bad idea.
Allegedly leather can cause the brass to turn green, depending on how the leather was tanned.

A nice sturdy fabric would keep the leather from tarnishing the finish on the bolsters. Or maybe a line leather roll. I havent tested that. My thoughts are to try spraying the inside of a sheath with silicone. see if this would keep a 110 from tarnishing by repelling the moisture away.

All knife rolls have a heavy but soft lining in them. The good ones have the same fabric that covers all the knives before you roll it up, so it doesn't matter what the outside is made of... One made with Naugahyde would probably be the best material to have...

i keep mine in a spyderco branded cordura i think it is fold up. works well enough.

The very best storage I've ever used is 'Sack Ups ' for my 112's . I like the 12 slot version but they sell different sizes for different size knives. For me there perfect!

This is what I use to store my 110/112 knives. They're made by Plano and it allows easy access to admire my Bucks.I can place six of these containers in small cordura bag for transportation.

Where do you get the Plano boxes and are they already lined?

It may be bad form for me to reply for him, but Plano boxes can be found in most sporting goods stores. Check the fishing section.

You can also get them online at places like Amazon, or even at some hardware stores or organization stores. Try The Container Store. They have a lot of really good storage solutions, some expensive, some inexpensive.

I’m guessing from his pictures that he added the lining. I don’t know of any Plano boxes that include lining of any sort.

Astro it's not a problem.I will add that I found the best price at Tackle Warehouse on theses boxes.Their model number is 3601 and they're just a little over an inch high.As can be seen they hold the Buck folders in several positions. If they are kept in the closed position each box will hold eight 112's.They will hold seven 110's,six folded and one open.

The felt squares I found on the bay.

sportingspecialist what is the 112 in your last picture bottom right??? I don't remember ever seeing that handle on a 112 just a 110..

This thing holds 18 knives and is slightly larger and heavier than a lunch pail. I got my last one from the Kershaw guy.View attachment 905894

I have several of those carriers. There are many problems with this type of storage. The first problem is the difficulty in determining what knife is in each pouch.Without pulling the knife from its pouch it's hard to make that determination.Secondly I often like to admire some work done on each knife and that becomes more difficult when I have to unzip the carrier and look for the knife, then pull that knife from its pouch.

With the Plano storage system the knives are readily visible and the ability to find a certain knife is made much easier.

Also,as stated,if I decide to transport certain knives,I can carry six storage boxes in a small cordura bag with the potential of 48 112's or 42 110's.If I want to transport the knives with etched blades in the open position, I can carry 24 112's or the same number of 110's.Easy peasy.LOL

I use the carriers more for transporting knives than viewing them. I tie a short piece of colored shoelace to the handles to differentiate among the various holders usually sorted by brand of knife. I can identify many knives just by looking at the exposed end. A medium size knapsack holds 2 of these carriers, so i can carry 36 knives quite easily. You can also safely carry 1 additional knife either side of the center divider making a total of 40 knives in 1 knapsack.

I hear you.If you have 18 110's,all with brass frames, the differentiation is difficult. The same situation occurs if all of the knives have N/S frams.

Here is one if mine filled with old school Spydercos.
