Knife Scale Finish Medium

I would like to know what knife makers use to finish African Ironwood scales? I’be never used ironwood and don’t know the best way to finish it.

I use a hardening wax that's heated while on the handle with a heat gun. Let it cool and rub off excess. It seems to work well with all dense, oily woods.
