I may be supplying the scales for a knife that John is going to make for me.

I understand he is allergic to certain materials so I will he clearing whatever I buy with John.

Does anyone here have an online retailer that they would recommend? I see a bunch of places that sell scales but was wondering if there are certain “go to” sellers.

Appreciate any responses!

John, have you ever used the paduk wood? I had not heard of Northcoast knives so I was just browsing their stuff and the description of "deep orange red" caught my attention due to my affinity for orange. May be something I need to look into for some personal knives.

A couple of times, I liked it, kind of a burnt orange.

Awesome. Is it something that is pretty stable? I think I may try that on the mud turtle I have on order, just because. I think I have black micarta listed right now. I've started to enjoy the bocote and osage orange textures the way you finish them as they still have pretty decent grip to them.

You currently have it as bocote, it originally was black micarta. Let me know by early January.

paduak is gorgeous -- but the dust is even more of an allergen than cocobolo, so wear a well fitting respirator and wash up thorough afterwards.
also - if you're wearing light colors, the dust can sweatstain them orange.
