ASM International, The materials Information society has a book on close out for $10. It is Materials Science & Engineering by Carter & Paul. It defines and explains many of the things that are discussed here. For $10 it is a great background source. If you wanted to (Library of congress Catalog card # 90-83686 ISBN 0-87170-399-8)
It is a college level textbook for an introductory course. It looks very good.
ASM books usually sell for $100 to $150 each so this is a good buy.
