Knife Sharpener and Lubricant

Hello everyone. I would like some recommendations for a decent knife sharpening system and also knife lubricant. The sharpener has to be easy to use and hopefully quick too. I'm not looking for a professional, complex apparatus by any means. Also, where is the best place online to order good sharpeners? (Assuming Amazon does not have any). I'll probably be able to pick up some lubricating oil downtown.

Thanks!

if you want fast and under $100. go with a set of paper wheels. you can read about them in this thread. they are not that hard to learn how to use. i taught a guy over the phone how to use them and he only has the use of 1 eye due to an accident. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=578787

for a lubricant, check out one called quick release. i was sent some knives that were lubed with it and i was amazed at how smooth they operated. i did a google search for quick release lube and the second link down is where to get it.

I'll second paper wheels. With a little practice, you will have all your cutting edges super sharp in no time. Then you'll be doing your neighbors, relatives, and friends knives and scissors just for the satisfaction of turning blunt into shaving sharp. And to see the look on their faces when they check how sharp you got their knives! :)

I should have mentioned this in my first post, but will the suggested sharpening systems work well with hooked blades such as hawkbills or karambits? Being able to sharpen a serrated edge would be a bonus, but not necessary.

i sharpen recurves and hawkbills on the wheels. you can also touch up serrations if they are not too bad. with the slotted wheel you can maintain either a v edge or convex edge just like using a strop only faster.

Will the Lansky or Edge Pro Apex sharpening systems work for hooked/curved knives? I've read that the Lansky can be used for serrations.

The basic stones on the Lansky are flat. There is a triangle stone available for serrated knives. It depends on the amount of curve the blade has if the Lansky will work or not. Most knives blades have a curve except for a tanto blade (the Lansky works well on a tanto blade).
