i was wondering if there is a sharpener that dosent use the triangle sharpener style stone for serrations?

i thought i had seen 1 before but cant find it on the net now.

im talking about a ceramic stone that has humps to fit perfectly in the serrations of the spyder edge

im not a fan for those triangle sharpeners at all!! been there done that

right now i use a dmt fine serration sharpener that folds up like a butterfly knife and the rod is cone shaped. it dose a good job but it is teadious.

I have and use a sharpener that uses round ceramic rods that would fit the grooves of a serrated blade nicely. I believe it is called a "Crock Stick". I have had it about twenty years and still does a reasonably good job.

Waaaaayyyy back when, Spyderco used to make ceramic rods that fit their serrations exactly, but they were discontinued, and haven't been made for a long time. Occassionally, you can come across them on Ebay. I have seen them there three or four times in the last couple of years. I should have gotten one when I saw them, but I only have two of their knives with serrations, and they sharpen up just fine with the triangle pointed stones. Granted, the triangle stones aren't the optimum method for sharpening the serrations, but they do the job.

well dange guess ill stick with my customized lansky system i took the cone rod off the folder and attached it to the lansky rods to get the angles. i knew i was right that there were stones that were made for the spyder edge. if you ever find some buy 2 and give me a shout. i usually am lurking on the custom forum

Look to the right of the "Lansky Serrated Knife Sharpener" and you will see the "Lansky Spyder Sharpener" in the link I sent you.

Spyderco makes the Pro Files, which are reported by many to work great on serrations.

The 701 Profile only sharpens one groove at a time. But there are reports it does a better job than the 204 Sharpmaker.

well then think ill buy 1 this thrusday i cant get that site to work to add 1 to the shopping cart though.
