Looking for recommendations on a good knife sharpening system for survival knives and EDC folders.
Thanks :)

Wicked edge, I just got is awesome, you get the pro pack 1 it's $390
Sharp maker with the course diamonds and ultra fine rods is over $100 and works great as well.
What's your price range? Is it for touch ups or you may be looking to More with it?

Well, I didn't realize that these systems could cost so much. LOL. I had thought if I could get something for $100 I would be doing well. HA HA.
Doubt I would be sharpening all the time but do have several that are dull as grass and wanted to get them in shape. Those are folders. I have a coupla survivals that are OK for now, but want to be ready when I need them to sharpen up.

I have an Edge-Pro and I had Wicked Edge. Both are great systems. Both do a great jiob.

IME, the wicked Edge is more difficult to set up, but easier to use.

the Edge-Pro is far more precise, and versatile.

the Edge-Pro is considerably less expensive, and accessories for it are half the price of Edge-Pro accessories.

You can't go wrong with either system, but after using both for several years, I kept the Edge-Pro and sold the wicked Edge.

Here is my answer to a similar question posed earlier in the week. I will copy it here to save time as the answer is the same.:)

Read through the stickie at the top of this section titled "Paper wheels, when time......" For less than $100 you can have a system that will give you razor sharp edges in less than 10 minutes after you learn how to use them. The paper wheels can be bought for about $60 or less, and with a $39 6inch buffer from Harbour Freight, you are in business. Go to your local Goodwill store or thrift store and buy up 6 or 8 kitchen knives, usually for around $1 each to learn on and you are ready to go. There are lots of u-tube video's on line showing how to use them. You can sharpen anything from 1095 carbon steel to the latest super steels with the paper wheels. I have had mine for over a year, and if I had it to do over, and had lots of money, I would still get the paper wheels.

Blessings,

Omar

I like my Spyderco sharpmaker. I got it for around $60 and it makes a great edge and I have only read good things about it here on bladeforums.

I use the Gatco system, wicked sharp everytime, not the fastest, most percise, most versatile, or most any thing else, but it's a fair system and only cost me about 65 bux for the 4 stone diamond kit, I strop on a leather belt and my knife stays razor sharp, I recommend going over to youtube, checking out this guy named BLUNTRUTH4U he has a set of videos titled "sharpening my way" walks you through every step, the only thing I do different is I like to put one end of the belt under my foot and pull on the other end rather than lay it on a table when I strop.

Go to the thread, " ZT S110V Mirror finish" to get an idea of what you can do with an Edge-Pro!:thumbup:

Edge Pro will work better than the clamping systems when it comes to longer blades. It can even do machetes and swords.

Wicked Edge, Gatco, Lansky, and DMT Aligner are fine for average-sized knives but not so great with larger blades.

The Wicked Edge is probably the quickest system, because it uses two arms.
