Knife sharpening in Nepal

Uncle Bill can probably tell about this place or give an idea about it. I don't see any tools but, it is hard to say. A pretty good idea if it is for the neighborhood use.:)

I've never seen the knife sharpening station but not a bad idea. A lot of village kamis have a favorite BIG stone in or near the shop and take the knife to the stone rather than the other way around.

In the middle ages everyone was expected to bring his/her own knife to a feast with them, spoons were sometimes provided, but forks were not used for eating until later. As guests arrived to the feast there would be a sharpening station of sorts set up for them to hone their knives before dinner.;)

Hmmmm,

Looks like another flat round stone on the left as well.

If I had to guess, I'd say this is mill for grinding grain into flour. Hard to imagine all
the effort just for sharpening khuks and knives, as important as that might be.

But I wasn't there. Maybe it's easier to obtain flour now than before.
