Knife sharpening styles

Hi guys. I wanted to know what you guys thought was the best style for sharpening your knives. I find the style where I sharpen against the edge (moving in the direction where the edge is ahead of the spine) most comfortable. This is where I'm going through the motion where I'm like shearing off part of the stone. My hand position is where the blade is at just above a 3:00 position going away from me and just below a 3:00 coming back. Is sharpening the blade with the edge first okay or should I use the same method as stropping? What methods do you guys use? Are there any videos on YouTube to illustrate this?

Thanks so much guys,

Hi,

I like stone safely in one hand (in holder to keep hand dry) , knife in other, fast scrubbing passes ... adjust wrist/elbow position until comfortable

In general forth and back strokes until good bevel, then mostly edge leading strokes only. At times, depending on my goal and sharpening medium, I do edge trailing strokes too.
