Anyone know where to pick up sharpening supplies in Austin? the Woodcraft store has alot of stones but I am looking for something like a DMT diafold magna-guide kit or a Lansky 5 stone system.

Thanks.

Not an Austinite myself, but a San Antonian. If you're looking for retail stores to purchase sharpening products, you might try the Cabela's just south of you in Buda.

Woodcraft sells DMT, they will also get you any products available in the catalog.

Cabelas in Buda has some diafolds... I think.

You could try the new Bass Pro up in Round Rock. Went there the other day but didn't check out their sharpeners.

I lived in central Texas (in & near Austin) for 20 years, up until ~2010 or so; I had the same thought. I bought at least some kind of diamond sharpener there, either DMT (Magna-Guide Aligner kit), or an accessory Gatco hone, or both. Might also look at Academy Sports, and there might be Hunting/Fishing/Gun specialty shops that carry them as well. I also picked up some other DMT hones (2" x 6" double-sided Dia-Sharp, and a couple of DMT credit card hones) at Woodcraft in north Austin.

Also watch for the Gun & Knife show in Austin. They had them about once a month when I was there, and I'd purchased a good deal of sharpening gear that way (as well as a bucketload of knives :D). Looking via the web, it appears the nearest show will be in Cedar Park (north edge of Austin).

Don't know if there's one in the Austin area, but you might also look for Sportsman's Warehouse as well. Quite similar to the Cabela's model, so I don't know if they'd compete with Cabelas down there. Where I am now, in NM near Albuquerque, I've purchased some DMT & Eze-Lap sharpeners at Sportsman's Warehouse, and I'm pretty sure I've seen some Dia-Folds, and maybe the Magna-Guide accessory as well. Edit: Might scratch that; their website doesn't show any stores in Texas at all...
