What's up guys? I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips to get a nice sharp edge also polish one at the same time? I will be ordering the lanky 5 rod system or whatever I found one for $30 then I will also get the strop attachments about 4 of them then one of each strop compound from strop man in addition the super sapphire polishing hone. Any recommendations on which order to use the rods? And do I need anything else to use the system to its fullest potential? Any honing oil or anything? This may seem noobie but I never really sharpened a knife but when do you

Here the rod system and stuff to be exact.

I hope these links are not against the rules I looked on the paid dealers list for sites so I don't post a link from one that isn't.

The stones/system is only part of the necessary tools to get a knife sharp. You need to practice too and possibly reqd through some of the threads in this very subforum to get a good idea about what people are doing and not doing. The information is there, it's up to you to read through it.

I use a diamond coarse to shape the edge with, smooth it over with the aluminum oxide coarse. Then the green medium stone, then the blue fine stone, then to the yellow ceramic. By this time it's razor Sharp. Now I use a plain ol leather strop no compound. And there you have it. U can't really get anything sharper. I also have the sapphire stone, and it's not nearly as good as the ceramic. Been using that combination for several years now works great.
