I'm thinking about getting a Wicked Edge Precision Sharpener and was wondering if anyone has one and what you think? I have a Spyderco Sharpmaker but it is hard to do my kitchen knives.

I bought the pro 1 kit right before xmas. There is a learning curve, but once you start to get it,there is a wow moment.I have already bought another stone set,the ceramics, and the low range strops too.it is a fun, strees releasing tool. Make sure you buy the angle cube so you can dial in angles closer, usually off about 1 degree on right side, that is the side that moves.next for me is the upgraded arms for even more control.

Thanks for the feedback the Pro 1 kit looks like the right choice since i am only doing my knives and an occasional friends. got a Bday coming up so I have started dropping hints:thumbup:

I have the Pro-Pack II, and I love it. As previously mentioned, there is a bit of a learning curve, and the angle cube is a good investment. If you are going to be reprofiling super steels, the extra-heavy grit diamonds would be a real time saver; I have down to 100, and reprofiling my 0600's B75P seemed to take quite a while. I think the lower one is 50/80 grit. The superfine ceramics are on my want list as well. I do like being able to pick a price point at which to jump in, and then add on as I need or want. By the way, the case that WE offers is a bit pricey, but works very well.

Love mine... You won't be disappointed. One fact often overlooked is the customer support after the sale. The wicked edge team has never let me down!

FWIW, after a lot of research I went with the KME instead of the WE. The WE is an AWESOME system, and probably "better" than the KME. However, the KME does everything I want it to do (and more). Also, the KME costs about $150 less than the WE. (this is comparing similar products, with bases and a comparable # of stones with comparable grits.)

Folks like Josh who make a living sharpening knives love the WE. When Josh offers an opinion about sharpening I listen because he know A LOT more about creating an edge than I do. However, as an amateur / hobby sharpener, I have yet to find a task that my KME could not accomplish... and when I do find that task I will send my knife to Josh! :)

Good luck with whatever you decide. I am 100% sure you will be disappointed with the WE if that is what you decide to buy.
