Knife shipping

I was wondering about shipping of knives.

I have ordered various knives, and have never had a problem. I was wondering if its legal to ship automatic knives (from anywhere to Tx) or balisongs? I am just making sure befor I decide to order one and cannot have it brought it. I am wondering about other states in the U.S. or other countries as well. I have a friend in Romania I was planning on sending a Buck knife to for his b-day however I wanted to verify and make sure.

I'm not sure about all the rules for autos, but I do know you can't mail them.


As far as a normal knife goes, the only problem with shipping to Romania is that it has a very good chance of being stolen in transit. IIRC, someone said USPS Express is the best for shipping to Europe.
 
I can corroborate that it is illegal to ship automatics over state lines, between ANY US state. While many laws on autos are state by state, the inter-state shipping law is federal, and includes the importation form other nations.

Mailing conventional folders outside the US is fine. It's only a matter of the receiving nation's customs. Very unlikely any country I know of will seize a buck knife though.

i bought some random knives off ebay from somewhere in the states to here in canada

when i recieved them i discovered 4 of the 12 were autos
i chuckled cause it wasnt mentioned atall nor could you even tell really

i then sold a few of them, but only to close friends
