I have a vacation coming up soon and I'll be traveling from south central PA to Vermont to Niagra Falls then back home. Any cool knife shops or custom makers in any of these areas? Heck, any cool points of interest along the way that I shouldn't miss? Thanks.

Not to many knife shops worth visiting in my area.Gary Levine is in the NYC area (lots of nice customs) but I don't know if he has an actual store. http://www.levineknives.com/m.pl/home.htm
Check out the winerys that line the finger lakes.(lots of tours with free samples

If you meander through Stowe, I found an artsy type shop that had a few knives in it, one of which was a Boye Dendritic Cobalt folder. There were some other customs there as well. Best I remember, as you're coming into the town, you take a left to go down through the resorts toward Smuggler's Notch. Right after you make the turn, there are a few shops on the left (about 1/10 to 1/4 of a mile down), all bunched in together, kinda haphazardly, around a parking lot (gravel, maybe). One has a lot of stuff hanging outside, like huge wind chimes... that's the store. Sorry I can't make it easy and just remember the name.

Back to the top for the morning crowd. Any blacksmith or Army/Navy surplus shops in these areas?

Haven't left for the great North yet so anyone else with any suggestions?

Gun shops are a lot more common than knife shops around here. A few gun shops carry a very limited selection of knives as well. Most people here don't spend much money on knives, so dealers don't spend much money on knives.

Powder Horn Gunshop at Taft Corners in Williston (Just outside Burlington) has a few, Parro's Gunshop on US Rt. 2 just north of Waterbury, Vt. carries a few Benchmades. Otherwise, it is basically hardware store types.

Give me a call if I can be of any help. My number is in the Montpelier phone book (Michael Heffernan).

Mike, nothing wrong w/ gun shops! I just hate being tempted by good firearm deals and not being in a position to buy them. Which would be my wife's favorite time to go to gun shops

Thanks for the offer of help and the info.
