Knife show and hinderer question.

I went to the NYCKS the other day and it being my first knife show I have some questions. Are the knives at the hinderer booth available only through winning the lottery or could they be purchased if you were to show up early. What is the etiquette on entering the lottery I saw several people with 2 or more cards and I assumed that it was one entry per person.

PS The knife show was pretty cool but the traffic getting into and out of that hellhole was unbelievable...2 hr drive ended up being just short of 5. But at least I know what I want know.

The knives can not be purchased at the show unless you are lucky enough to win a lottery slot. I believe it is supposed to be 1 entry per person, but I was holding 2 tickets as my wife and I each entered the lottery. As far as the traffic goes, it is one of the reasons we are planning to relocate ;)

I have never been so frustrated driving ..GPS telling you to take a right..but there is no right. Traffic stopped everywhere..my brother in law works for Westen hotels in florida..next time I'll just get a room and skipp the BS.

Well it was good because I know what I want now. I got a chance to finally look at some striders, sebenzas and hinerers. really like the XM-18 with 3.5in blade and the Umnumzaan.

I noticed that a lot of the dealers signed up their entire staff for the auction. At one point, an employee of a dealer won and was minding the table. The folks running the lottery allowed them to go get the guy despite making it clear that "you have to be here to win it".

Not a big deal but still its a little annoying.

Was one an Asian guy on steroids?

Am I the only one that doesn't get the joke?

FWIW,
We spoke to that particular employee (I think) prior to the drawing, real nice guy BTW. The employee is under the same purchasing conditions as the rest of us, he doesn't get to buy direct either. He told us that in 12 shows he has won two lottery slots. Just FYI...

So here is my other question on the lottery...if you win and none are left that you want. (need something no bigger than the 3.5 due to where I work, and I do not want a custom as I plan to use it as an EDC. Are you still responcible to buy one if there are non that strike your fancy?

My advice would be to buy what you can, you can always leverage a trade later on. Sieze the opportunity when it presents itself. Nothing will ever align itself to be 100% perfect in life, no matter what anyone says.

when did they or do theydo the door prize drawings and how do you find out if your number came up for it??? anyone know?

Marc4,
You don't have to buy, but even if it is a knife you can't use you can take it back into the show (if a dealer doesn't approach you first) and sell it to any of the dealers. The cheapest price that I saw any of the dealers had one of Rick's knives priced at was $650 for a XM-18. Or you could just come back here and sell it with ease ;)

killteam,
The time for the drawing is posted. You go to the next room over and you wait for the tickets to be pulled. You have to be there to win the opportunity to buy.
