I am thinking about going to the Knife show in Jersey City, New Jersey tomorrow..

I would be going mainly to score some Chris Reeve lefty folders...

I am fairly new to high end collecting and never been to this or any show previously..

Other then seeing a lot of knife porn would this be worth while trip to pickup one (or two) CRK Lefties??

Only if you want one or two CRK lefties :p

It's a knife show man, go, you'll have a blast:thumbup:

IF you pick 2 up and only want one let me know..I'd love to pick up another lefty CRK

Very possible... I often impulse buy... Knowing I could get ride of it quickly if I get buyers remorse makes the purchase that much easier... What exactly are you interested in?

Just made arraignment to leave work early.... Going to cash in a 1oz Gold Krugerrand I purchased in September '08 for $750 and hopefully get close to $1700 in the morning.

A Large Sebenza... I'd love to get one with inlays or graphic. Thanks Sir. shoot me an email when you get a chance..

You may want to call them to see what they are bringing in left hand models. At the Plaza Cultlery Show they only had two lefties both small inlayed 21's.One with snakewood and one with irowood. Both were beautiful. I bought neither.

Only large lefty sebenza at the show was a Tanto point. I did not like it..

Picked up a lefty small 21 and a left umnunzaan with large pivot and no lock bar safety for EDC...

Also got a wicked edge pro 1 system...

You won't regret picking up the WE. Best knife related purchase I have ever made.

This is the whole score for the trip... Two EDC and two safe Queens.

The sales guy at the show had constant crowd of people watching him sharpen their knives for free. Took like 3minutes to put a wicked edge ( no pun intended) on a beater I was carrying...

Congrats! Love my "old" lefty Umnumzaan as well.

I have a lefty large Insingo I'm parting with on my normal forum, a place with a goat. My Umnumzaan keeps me from carrying it very much, so I recently decided to let it go. Only had it a couple months, but the Ummy trumps it for me.

I also always have a lefty small Seb on me, the only LH small "Come and take it" made. James/Action Concepts had it made for me in his run of those commissioned unique graphics he had made.

Here's a fun pic of the three of them with some other leftys I EDC:

I am having a tough time opening the umnumzaan...

I am following the instructions about pushing up along the beveled edge of the frame till I hit the stud to swing the blade out..

My thumb is almost blistered today trying to get the technic down pat..

In order to get the blade out I have to position my thumb low and push up... But then I can not swing the blade all the way to lock open. I have to reposition the knife so my thumb can swing all the way around the top to lock open.

I tried position just at the point where my thumb can swing all the way to open but then I can not get then initial swing started...

Am I doing something wrong? Perhaps the knife needs to be broken in? The blade feels smooth ..

Then closing is also difficult... Not enough cutout in the handle to push the lock bar...

I have zero issue with opening /closing the large Sebenza...

Any advice would be appreciated....

It took me awhile to get the technic of openning my zaan as well, and I will also agree that there isn't very much room for closing on the lock bar. That being said, it will take a little breaking in, and getting the technic down, but once you do......I also took mine apart and I use militec for lube, but there are alot of choices on lube. And mine is smooth as butter (as they say) now.

What up G, it's James from Houston. Good to see you make your way over here. I love that CQC8 with a true lefty grind. I wish they still made some like that.

Do it many times a night and your thumb tips will toughen up.

That helped plus I quickly improved my technique... I can now flip open the umnumzaan with just a thumb flick and no wrist action...

Best way to describe it is I apply 50% pressure directly to the blade and 50% to the thumb stud.. I push up and out on the blade then once it starts to move I finish with a strong flip outward on the stud to swing the blade all the way around...

If I did not know it could be done from watching so many YouTube videos I might have given up with out figuring it out...Glad I stuck with it... Very happy with the left hand Umnunzaan now.......
